Restoration atelier with a tradition since 1907

The restoration studio was founded in 1991 and continues a family tradition that dates back to 1907. Our team is made up of experts who have specialised in specific areas of restoration. All have academic or restoration training, licenses and many years of experience. Restoration items include paintings, murals, furniture, clocks and gaming machines. We also specialize in woodwork and wood pest remediation.

You can see our many years of experience and the quality work we do in our references and restoration samples.

Fine Art

Painting and restoration of paintings has been rooted in the Fial family since 1907. Our experts and specialists in various techniques in the field of fine art are able to cover a wide range of restoration interventions on works of art and cultural monuments.

Furniture

Each of our restorers specializes in a particular historical period and original techniques. We work exclusively in the traditional manner and only with period materials.

Expert upholstery and an appropriate selection of period upholstery fabrics are inherent to restored seating and other furniture. In this field, too, we honour the predominantly handmade technologies and materials originally used. For our clients who have their furniture upholstered by us, we have over 200 different upholstery fabrics to choose from at wholesale prices

Clocks/playing machines

Restoration of period technology or mechanics in the form of historic clocks or gaming machines or other technical items really takes a lot of experience, patience, overall skill and love for the field.

Woodwork/Wood Pest Remediation

  • Eradication of biological wood pests – woodworm, fungi, woodworm by three effective methods
  • Pressure injection – a local and gentle method of destruction
  • radiation – 100% destruction of objects (furnishings) in the radiation chamber
  • surface disposal of bulky parts (roof trusses or whole buildings) by chemical spraying

Use of remediation:

  1. Preventive protection prevents subsequent infestation of pests that are difficult to eradicate afterwards
  2. Intensive method of eliminating an already active pest by repeated application
  3. Emergency condition – already advanced to destructive infestation of the wood mass – high intensity pickling and subsequent petrification to strengthen the wood mass

The remediation of wood-boring pests is only a small part of the 30 years of experience in the restoration of historic monuments and artifacts.
