Art Academy

The House of Art at Chvalská Fortress organises art courses in various drawing and painting techniques and arts and crafts workshops. For the year 2025, we have prepared a comprehensive line-up of courses for you. From the very basics for beginning artists, to drawing techniques to painting techniques, to non-traditional, alternative or experimental painting.

Our tutors are academics and artists with many years of experience, keen to pass on the experience they have gained throughout their professional lives. Our studio and our tutors are interested in your education to a high standard, therefore courses are only staffed with a limited number of students so that the tutor can give full and maximum attention to their student. As a result, and with our satisfaction, the graduate of the course will be artistically enriched to the fullest extent.

Fine art has its roots in the Fiala family since 1907, when Josef Fiala (1882-1963), then a recent graduate of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, established his art studio. Throughout his life he was professionally involved in painting, fine art and its restoration.

His great-grandson David Fiala continued this family tradition by founding the Fiala Studio in 1991. In 2013 we opened the “House of Art at Chvalská tvrzi”, where we organize exhibitions, workshops and art courses.

Our art rooms have facilities for your comfort – a kitchenette where you can make tea or coffee. There is a restaurant in the house, but there are also several restaurants to choose from in the whole Chvalská tvra area.
